Upgrade your wardrobe at this swap & shop

Fashionistas and thrift lovers listen up, because Verte and Round Retail are joining forces to create a 2 week long pop-up on The King’s Road. Vert “…is a pop-up swap-shop for pre-loved fashion with the sole purpose of reducing the impact our wardrobes have on the planet.” and “Round Retail aims to bridge the gap between fashion resale and charitable stores” so it really is a match made in retail heaven. This swap and shop will be the perfect place to get your hands on second hand items to refresh your wardrobe. There are two ways to get your mitts on some new (well, new to you) clothes.

First: shop! Simply rock up and get ready to browse rails of preloved clothes from some of your favourite brands. The prices will be up to a whopping 80% off the RRP and lines from Whistles, Rixo, Acne Studios, L.F. Markey and Toast, to name a few, will be there. Secondly: start swapping. For this you can pre-book a ‘swap’ ticket online- which will be cheaper than if you get them on the door- then turn up with up to 5 items you want to trade with the clothes on the ‘swap’ rails. Spot something you like and you can trade in your pre-loved items for someone else’s. The perfect way of refreshing your wardrobe for cheaps and not feeding into the dreaded fast-fashion cycle.

Aside from the swap and shop element of this pop up, there’s a couple more things going on:

• 7th Feb – Launch drinks and canapes from 6pm-8pm
• 8th Feb – Crochet Workshop with Kim Rana
• 14th Feb – Galentine’s Beading Workshop with Luna June
• 16th & 17th Feb – Free repairs with The Seam 11am-3pm

The crochet and beading workshops will both require that you buy a ticket ahead of time, so head to the pop up site here to get those. To top it all off, the 2 weeks will be raising money for SMART (St Mary Abotts Rehabilitation and Training), a charity who help those “suffering from mental health issues by providing them with paid employment opportunities through community businesses including their cafe, gardens, gigging music group and more.” So not only will you be getting a wardrobe refresh, saving money and helping the planet, but you’ll also be raising cash for a very worthy charity. That’s a lot of wins.
