After seven months of being closed, M&S Brixton Road has reopened its doors—and it’s more than just a makeover.
With a brand-new look, a fresh foodhall brimming with treats, and a respectful nod to its Brixton heritage, the revamped store is set to become the heart of the community once again.
The reopening was celebrated in true Brixton fashion. Store Manager Mark Aldridge, joined by everyone’s favourite character Percy Pig, cut the ribbon to officially mark the occasion. And because it wouldn’t be a proper Brixton event without music, the London All Stars Steel Band kept the celebrations lively with their infectious rhythms.
The updated foodhall is a proper foodie’s dream. The bakery takes centre stage, showcasing freshly baked breads like the popular Collection Sourdough, crafted through a 30-hour process. You’ll also find pastries baked throughout the day and a coffee station serving barista-made brews, including the much-loved Magic Coffee.
If you’re in a rush, the expanded grab-and-go selection has you covered, with a variety of sandwiches, salads, and snacks. Fancy something hot for dinner? Stop by the Hot Chicken Counter for a BBQ or butter-basted chicken.
For your weekly shop, the Remarksable value range offers over 100 everyday essentials priced to compete with other supermarkets—perfect for when you want great quality without breaking the bank.
This isn’t just a food shop; it’s a one-stop shopping destination. The revamped Flower Shop and Wine Shop make it easy to pick up a bouquet or a bottle of wine, while the Click & Collect service allows you to conveniently grab clothing, homeware, and beauty items ordered online.
With Christmas around the corner, the festive range is already hitting the shelves. From Halloumi in Blankets with Hot Honey to the build-your-own Charcuter-Tree, there’s plenty to impress your guests. Don’t forget to add a few new Choc Marks bars or their Swiss Caramel and Milk Chocolate Clouds to your basket for the ultimate treat.
This reopening is more than just a store relaunch—it’s a celebration of Brixton’s rich history with M&S. The retailer has been part of the area for 100 years, as this was their very first London store. To honour this milestone, the updated foodhall features artwork and an exterior mural by Create Not Destroy, a group rooted in London’s graffiti art culture. It’s a perfect blend of tradition and modernity, much like Brixton itself.
Store Manager Mark Aldridge is thrilled to reopen the doors, especially as he celebrates 20 years with M&S. “We’ve been part of the Brixton community for over 100 years,” he said. “It’s fantastic to welcome back our customers to this incredible new space. We’re so proud of the transformation, and we know our customers will love it as much as we do.”
The store is located at 446 Brixton Rd, London SW9 8ED and is open Monday-Saturday from 7am-10pm, and Sunday from 11am-5pm. For updates and news, follow the M&S Brixton Road team on Facebook.
Whether you’re popping in for your weekly shop, grabbing a quick coffee, or picking up festive essentials, M&S Brixton Road is back—and it’s better than ever. Go on, give it a visit. You won’t regret it.
