LOCKES is coming to Battersea Rise in January 2024, and if there’s ever a reason to break dry Jan, this is it.
‘Cocktails, pizza and parties’ are the three words that this new bar use to describe themselves, so obviously we are interested. There’s already a LOCKES in Covent Garden, which has garnered a reputation for being an easy go-to for post work drinks and a bite to eat. It has a cosy, neighbourhood feel to it and prides itself in doing cocktails really, really well. And now LOCKES is spreading its wings and coming to Battersea Rise in January ’24.
The hospitality biz is, characteristically, a volatile place but- considering who the owner of LOCKES is- we back this as a spot that will stay… Steve Locke was a founding partner of bar chain Be At One, where the 1st bar (of the now 35 strong fleet) opened in Battersea in 1998, just a few doors down from where the brand new LOCKES is about to settle. A full circle! Steve opened LOCKES as his own venture after selling Be At One with the aim to create a bar that is a little more intimate and independent- there’s a strong focus on their menu of classic cocktails and seasonal menu of small plates and pizzas. It all lends itself for being the perfect place to head to when you’ve got a gaggle of friends and want a night of great drinks and sharing food. And who knows, maybe even a bit of a boogie afterwards.
