There’s a new champion in town, and if you’re a burger lover, you’re going to want to pay attention.
Black Bear Burger’s ‘Miso Bacon Burger’ has just scooped up the title of Burger of the Year at the National Burger Awards 2025—beating 15 other top contenders from across the UK.
Hosted at Big Penny Social in Walthamstow, the annual showdown saw industry pros judging some of the country’s most drool-worthy burgers. But it was Black Bear’s mouthwatering creation—featuring 45-day aged beef patties, cheese, smoked bacon, miso butter mayo, and onion in a sesame seed bun—that stole the show.
If you’re itching to sink your teeth into this award-winning beauty, you’re in luck—Black Bear Burger has multiple spots across London, including Exmouth Market, Brixton, Victoria, Canary Wharf, Shoreditch, and Camden. No excuses, this one is a must-try.
The National Burger Awards is no joke—16 of the UK’s best burgers were cooked fresh on-site before facing the ultimate taste test. Coming in second was Roddy Burger from Tunbridge Wells, while Smiths of Bourton in the Cotswolds claimed third place. Last year’s winner was London-based Bleecker Burger, proving the capital really is the burger hotspot of the UK.
Talking about the big win, Stewart Down of Black Bear Burger said: “We’ve been going for over seven years, and this is the recognition we’ve been working towards. To be up there with the past winners is amazing.”
But that wasn’t the only big moment of the night. Nick Watkins of El Perro Negro in Glasgow bagged the Chef of the Year title, while Fat Hippo won the Plant-Based category with their ‘Sloppy Faux’ burger—a veggie dream packed with a sloppy joe-style mix, pickleback chipotle slaw, and BBQ sauce.
If you haven’t already been, now’s your sign to check out Black Bear Burger and see for yourself what makes their Miso Bacon Burger the best in the UK. London’s burger scene just keeps getting better—and this one is at the top of the pile.
