Maybe you know them for the handwritten menus or from the beautifully curated wine list. Either way, you’re about to get even more familiar.
Here is some very exciting news for all the foodies out there! You’ll recognise the Crispin name from founder Dominic Hamdy’s other outposts; Crispin (Spitalfields) Bar Crispin (Soho) and Bistro Freddie (Shoreditch). And now they are expanding south of the river to Clapham.
Crispin at Studio Voltaire will be taking over from Juliet’s Cafe and Bar, and will play into its new, artistic setting. The decor will encapsulate the understated elegance of ’90’s Conran’ style space with a 50-cover restaurant and bar, plus an outdoor terrace for when it heats up.
And what of the menu? You can expect Crispin classics which are influenced by British and European cuisines: pastas, seasonal vegetables, grilled meats. Head Chef Michael Miles has said that the menu “…will be generous, seasonal and quite simply full of dishes you really want to eat”… and that sounds pretty good to us, especially when washed down with one of their sustainable wines on tap.
Crispin executive chef Lewis de Haas, formerly of Petersham Nurseries, will overseeing the offer at both Crispin in Spitalfields and Crispin at Studio Voltaire.
“I have been following Crispin and Lewis for some time and I’m incredibly excited to become a part of the group’s team for such a special and culturally rich site, says Miles. “The menu at Crispin at Studio Voltaire will be generous, seasonal and quite simply full of dishes you really want to eat. I am thrilled to become a part of Studio Voltaire and its community of artists, creatives and locals and to have the opportunity to nourish them with delicious plates of food.”
Crispin at Studio Voltaire is expected to open in the spring this year.
