F45’s epic BATTLE BRIXTON

We love F45 Brixton. It’s an endless opportunity to meet people, try something new & have a good time. & you’ll get fit whilst you’re at it.

Every year F45 studios around the globe participate in their famous 45 day challenges (there’s around 3 to 4 per year). These challenges see members holistically embrace their health and fitness- you pledge a consistent training schedule and eat nutrient dense foods to really fuel the classes you’re taking part in. It gets incredible results and there’s a huge difference in strength and cardio capacity by the end… not to mention the overall good feeling from all those endorphins. Because the studio was about to turn 5 years old F45 Brixton wanted to do something a little different this year. So they came up with their own concept: BATTLE BRIXTON.

The 300+ members were split into 10 teams and for those 6 weeks they battled it out in and out of class to win points for their team. And, as they should, points = prizes. Local businesses provide prizes; The Laundry, Kricket, Brixton Life Drawing, Brixton Wine Club, Pop brixton, Crown and Anchor, Project 6 festival, Hopper Coffee and loads more all contributed goodies and vouchers to the sweaty teams!

Something we especially love about the F45 concept is that it’s not just about the classes, and BATTLE BRIXTON was no exception. There was a load of extra workshops, themed classes and social events too; pub quizzes at the Crown and Anchor, Wim Hof breathwork and ice baths, yoga, coffee socials and themed classes. There was a ‘first date Thursday’ where members were encouraged to bring along single friends and a ‘member DJ Monday’ where members had control of the playlist for the day… all of which was included in membership price!

Of course, there had to be an epic event to wrap up the 6 week effort. ‘Games Day’ at the studio was a 3 hour saga of team fitness, a live DJ, pizza van and a bar with local beer from Portobello Brewery and cocktails from (member owned) Black Lines Drinks. On top of all that £1300 was raised for Stonewall Housing, a charity that helps rehouse thousands of LGBTQ+ people who are in need. There couldn’t be a better way to finish the challenge.

If that didn’t give you the picture, F45 Brixton is a really special place. We’ve been going for 3 months and have felt this epic vibe radiating throughout our time training. Sure, we got fit and feel the healthiest we ever have (both mentally and physically), but it’s the pull of community feeling that really makes us want to come back again and again. The classes are fantastic and the trainers are knowledgable and encouraging and just the right amount of ‘pushy’ when it’s needed. The members are equally a joy to sweat with and the 45 minute classes always fly by. A 45 day challenge not your thing? Don’t worry- the classes as consistently fun and you’ll be welcomed whether you come once or 7 days a week. F45 is way more than just a class, it’s a community.
