Eat incredible food cooked by an impressive chef in a beautiful setting AND you get to help tackle food waste whilst you’re at it!
FoodCycle is really cool. Their aim is “…to make food poverty, loneliness and food waste a thing of the past for every community”, which they are doing by hosting community meals for those who need the support. Even better is that they make the meals using surplus stock from supermarkets and shops that would have otherwise gone to waste, thus reducing the amount of perfectly good food that goes in to landfill every day.
One of their ambassadors is the Michelin-trained chef Danilo Cortellini (you might have caught him on MasterChef: The Professionals in 2015). Danilo is going to be cooking up a 4 course meal on 15th November at the Mission Kitchen in New Covent Garden Market to raise funds for FoodCycle. And that week also happens to be ‘International Italian Cuisine Week’, which makes the vegetarian, Italian-inspired menu even more suitable. Here’s what you’ll be eating:
Burrata with roast pumpkin, almonds, pomegranate and balsamic dressing
Cime di rapa (turnip tops greens) arancini, with chilli and garlic oil
Uovo in raviolo San Domenico with truffle
Amaretto and cinnamon tiramisù
On top of that, you’ll get a glass of Prosecco and canapés to welcome you in, plus wine throughout the meal. There’s a lot of bang considering tickets only cost £65 and in buying one you’ll not only have a proper feast coming your way, but you’ll also be helping to tackle food waste and insecurity.
