On Friday, 5th July, Freight Brixton will throw open its doors, and we can’t wait to give you the grand tour. Perched above the Sports Direct shop on Pope’s Road, this 1,000-capacity rooftop bar is set to be the largest open-air destination in London.

Field Vision Bars, the brains behind this venture, have pulled out all the stops. We’re talking a £1.6 million investment, up to 200 new jobs, and a ten-year lease – so this isn’t just a summer fling; it’s here to stay. Operating hours will be 2–11pm from Sunday to Thursday and 10am to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, making it the perfect spot for both midweek meet-ups and weekend blowouts.

Concerned about the noise? Field Vision’s got that covered. The entrance will be through a former railway arch onto Brixton Station Road, directing revellers away from residential areas. Despite some initial worries from locals and MP Helen Hayes about noise and anti-social behaviour, the council’s licensing sub-committee gave it the thumbs up after careful consideration.

Freight Brixton isn’t just another rooftop bar; it’s a celebration of everything we love about Brixton. Expect a melting pot of culture, music, and mouth-watering food. Imagine enjoying a dish by top chefs like Robin Gill of Bottle & Rye fame, Rice Paddy, Darby’s, Breddos Tacos, and Ruben’s Reubens – all while soaking in panoramic views of the city.

And it doesn’t stop at food. The entertainment line-up is just as tasty. We’re talking live performances, DJ sets, themed brunches, football screenings for the 2024 Euros, and night markets. There will be a rotating roster of street food traders and three bars to quench your thirst. Sip on a classic negroni at Hotel Campari, or cool off with a frozen margarita at the House of Friends tequila bar, courtesy of Casamigos.

Beer lovers, you’re in luck too. Brixton Brewery will be serving up their locally crafted beers, complete with special events like beer tastings and exclusive brews. Wine aficionados can look forward to collaborations with Sergio Verillo from Battersea’s urban winery, Blackbook. Think wine tastings and dinners with London’s best chefs.

But Freight Brixton is more than just a place to eat and drink. It’s about community. The team is passionate about honouring Brixton’s vibrant spirit and will be hosting everything from dance classes to youth charity events.

So, save the date and get ready to elevate your Brixton experience. Freight Brixton is set to be the ultimate weekend destination, offering everything from food and drink to culture and community. We’ll see you on the rooftop!
