Battersea, it’s time to get your skates on and slide on over to the Power Station because Glide is officially open!
London has just officially got festive, because the most iconic ice skating rink is back in town. For the second year, Glide at Battersea Power Station has returned to SW London and it is going to be bringing Londoners 8 weeks of pure, wintery joy. The massive structure is uniquely made up of three interconnecting ice rinks in the centre of which is a whopping 30ft Christmas tree making it as stunning to look at as it is fun to skate around. It’s all open air which means you can take in the views of both the Power Station and the Thames, some of the best sights in town, whilst you glide!
You’ll notice a lot of Jo Malone branding floating around too because, again for the second year, the premium scent company is sponsoring the rink. They’ll have a pop-up on site where you can experience some of their famous fragrances at a masterclass or just browse their latest collection ( we’d also recommend heading to the store in the Power Station where they’ve got bespoke services like embossing and engraving). Joining forces with Jo this year are IWC Schaffhausen, who have erected two beautiful timepieces above the rink, and Nespresso. The latter will be serving warming drinks and The Glass House and The Chalet where you can try their delicious new hazelnut flavour coffee.
Aside from the rink itself there is a lot going on at Glide. Private hire igloos, fairground rides, quiz nights hosted by the Good Time Gals every Tuesday, food and drinks at The Glass House and loads of other entertainment over the 8 weeks. And if once won’t be enough then we don’t blame you- you can get your mittens on Skate Season Passes which will let you skate all winter long for cheaper.
So Battersea, what are you waiting for? Get your skates on and head down to Glide this winter. It’ll be open from 10th November until 7th January. See you on the ice.
