SW London based charities you can support this festive period

SW London is full of inspiring charities. We couldn’t fit them all into one feature, but here are some fab ones to support this Christmas.

Tooting Community Kitchen

What they do: It’s not just food provided for those living in poverty at this organisation. They also offer activity clubs, pilates and music therapy.  

How you can help: Volunteer your time (they’ve got a handy calendar on their website where you can choose when you’re free) or donate.


Brixton Community Orchestra

What they do: They support young, local musicians with paid performing experience. They’ll also often put on free concerts for the community.

How you can help: Volunteer at events or go and watch a performance! And maybe bring some extra cash with you for a little gift at the end…

Royal Trinity Hospice

What they do: Provide end of life and palliative care for patients and support for their families in the hospice and over south and central London.

How you can help: Shop at one of their charity outlets! All proceeds go to the charity and you get a bargain too, win win.


Down South

What they do: This parent-run charity offers early intervention therapy for babies and young children with Down’s Syndrome. They also act as a local support network for their families. 

How you can help: The cost of the therapy package is £3,500 per year per child, so any monetary donation is gratefully received.

The Harbour

What they do: The Harbour provides services for adults with alcohol and drug addictions who want treatment and support. They’ve got loads of different thing going on; access to computers, wifi, recovery groups, therapy, 1-2-1 support…

How you can help: The Harbour is under the ‘Mind’ charity umbrella, and they’ve constantly got fundraising events going on. Marathon anyone?


Wandsworth Friends of Palestine

What they do: Raise awareness of the war on Gaza via peaceful protests and fundraising events.

How you can help: Join an event and reshare their social media posts.

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home

What they do: They rescue, rehab and rehome animals at their Battersea based centre

How you can help: Give a pet a second chance at happiness and adopt one of their gorgeous cats or dogs.


ACE of Clubs

What they do: Provide support, food, advice and friendship to those experiencing homelessness in SW London… which they’ve been doing since 1995!

How you can help: Donate (£10 buys someone 10 dinners, £20 buys 40 pairs of socks, £100 buys heating for a week) or partner your organisation with the charity.


South London Refugee Association

What they do: They provide specialist advice and support so that migrants in South West London can access justice, safety and opportunities.

How you can help: Donate goods or money, or volunteer.

Palace for Life Foundation

What they do: Support the young people of South London through football-related activities. As well as that they’ve got social mobility and mentoring programmes to inspire and motivate.

How you can help: They’re aiming to raise £1mil in 3 years. Donate, or join their ‘Super Draw’ where, with a monthly donation, you’ll be in with the chance of winning big…


White Eagle Appeal

What they do: They’re able send aid directly to those in war torn Ukraine via Poland via their already setup network which was previously used for food imports.

How you can help: Volunteer, donate clothes and goods.

The Hygiene Bank Wandsworth

What they do: They collect and distribute much needed hygiene products across

How you can help: Donate hygiene products to their drop off point (check out the map here for drop off points) or donate money for the bank to purchase products for you.

Building Young Brixton

What they do: Since 2016 Building Young Brixton has been providing educational and recreational opportunities for young people. It’s a collection of 10 charities within Lambeth that are doing amazing things by addressing the social challenges young people face.

How you can help: Get in touch and see if you can offer mentoring services, or other support.
