Mark your calendars, Brixton, because the Northcote Road Summer Festival is making its grand return on Sunday, 14th July from 11am to 6pm. This year’s theme is LGBTQ+, promoting inclusivity and diversity in our wonderful community.
The Northcote Road is turning into one big party this weekend! On 14th July, the street will once again be pedestrianised. If you remember from the Covid times when this was the norm, you know it creates an atmosphere like no other. Restaurants, cafes, and bars will spill out onto the road with their tables, giving you the perfect spot to eat, drink, and be merry al fresco with your fellow SW Londoners. Expect a lively crowd if past years are anything to go by!
The pedestrianisation kicks off before the festival officially starts on Sunday. With no traffic, stalls, performers, and street food vendors will take over, ready for you to explore. And of course, there’ll be a bar nearby to serve you all the Pimm’s you need to enjoy the day. As always, the atmosphere will be electric, so if you’re looking for weekend plans, look no further.
This year’s festival – sponsored by The Junction BID – promises to be a FREE, fun-filled day for the whole family. Expect live entertainment, over 50 stalls offering mouth-watering street food, and unique arts and crafts. It’s bigger and better than ever!
A highlight not to be missed is the giant screen broadcasting the Wimbledon Men’s Final. British summertime wouldn’t be complete without strawberries and cream, so get ready for an iconic afternoon. For our furry friends, the annual Dog Show is back. Watch as our canine companions strut their stuff on the ‘catwalk’, showing off their best moves, dos, and tricks.
And it’s not just about the festival fun. This is a perfect opportunity to discover the rich feast of retail and service businesses along Northcote Road. With an enviable selection of restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars, and vibrant boutique stores, there’s something for everyone on this much-loved South London street.
