Clapham, get ready! Polygon Public House is bringing something fresh to the neighbourhood, and it’s happening this month.
Following the success of the Rose & Crown, they’re about to launch their second gastropub, The Ox, on Clapham High Street. If you’ve been a fan of the cosy, welcoming vibes at the Rose & Crown, you’re going to want to check out this new spot.
So, what can you expect? The Ox is giving us space and style in abundance. We’re talking 4,815 sq. ft of carefully designed interiors by Hadley Interiors. The look is inspired by traditional British community pubs – think deep burgundy hues, warm greens, wood panelling, dark floor tiles, and vintage furnishings. The vibe? Warm, inviting, and absolutely perfect for those autumn evenings.
Inside, you’ll find a main bar, a 30-cover mezzanine restaurant, and a snug for those cosier moments. Got a celebration coming up? You’ll want to check out The Playroom, their 55-capacity private events space. And let’s not forget the rooftop terrace – ideal for those looking to enjoy a drink with a view.
Let’s get to the really important stuff – the food. Head Chef Darren Everts is heading up the kitchen, and he’s bringing a menu that shines a spotlight on seasonal British ingredients. All the beef is sourced ethically and sustainably from the group’s family farms in Melrose, on the Scottish Borders, and it’s dry-aged on-site. You know what that means – seriously good flavour.
Expect dishes like aged fillet of Scottish Luing beef with smoked eel, potato terrine, and salt-baked celeriac. Got a mate you’re willing to share with? The Porterhouse for two is a must. Oh, and don’t sleep on the Japanese double patty smash burger – it’s got minced aged beef, bone marrow mayo, and a dipping jus. Mouth-watering, right? And to finish? An Anglo Trifle served tableside in a retro crystal bowl. It’s the kind of food that’ll keep you coming back.
