Big news, Clapham! One of your favourite locals, The Saxon, is about to get a fresh new look and a brand-new name.
Come October 2024, The Saxon will be reborn as The Ox, and we’re already counting down the days! You’ve got until 22nd September to soak up all the vibes you love at The Saxon before it closes its doors for a bit of a makeover. But don’t fret—when it reopens as The Ox, you can expect a whole new pub experience that’s set to shake up the Clapham scene in the best way possible.
The Ox is all about top-quality food, warm welcomes, and proper community spirit. The brains behind the brilliant Rose & Crown are stepping in to bring a new lease of life to The Saxon, and they’ve got some pretty tasty plans up their sleeve. Think classic pub vibes, but with a modern twist. It’s going to be a proper Clapham hub where everyone feels right at home.
But let’s talk about the grub, shall we? The Ox is putting the focus on fantastic produce. They’ll be serving up dishes made with beef and lamb sourced straight from their family farm in the Scottish Borders. And here’s the kicker—the meat will be dry-aged on-site to make sure every bite is packed with unbeatable flavour. It’s going to be the kind of menu that makes you want to stay for another round… or three.
This transformation is all thanks to the owner of the Rose & Crown, who knows a thing or two about running a top-notch pub. She’s got big plans to bring The Ox back to its roots, as a place where good food, good drinks, and great people come together. It’s all about taking that much-loved local feel and giving it a fresh new spin.
So, if you’re a fan of The Saxon, make sure to swing by before it closes for its glow-up. Then, get ready to meet The Ox in October—a pub that’s set to become Clapham’s newest must-visit spot.
We’ll be sharing more details as we get closer to the big day, so stay tuned! We can’t wait to welcome you back to The Ox for a proper celebration of what makes Clapham, Clapham.
