It’s hard to mention this new restaurant without commenting on the… unfortunate name. Thankfully the food will be anything but unfortunate.
And when was say ‘Clap’ we are, thankfully, not talking about an STD. In this instance anyway… your medical history is your business. What we are talking about is a three-strong restaurant group that has locations in Dubai, Riyadh, Beirut and, soon, on Basil Street in Knightsbridge too.
By all accounts, it sounds like Clap is going to fit very, very nicely into its new bouji neighbourhood. It’s Japanese fine-dining at its, well, finest. From the menu you can expect to see a host of refined, fusion dishes; sushi rolls, black cod miso, lamb rack with kimchi, squid carbonara with caviar… Or if you’re feeling spontaneous then throw caution to the wind and let the chef decide by indulging in the Omakase menu.
But it won’t just be the food that will take your breath away. The restaurant has taken over the top 3 floors of its new building. You’ll be whisked up to the 6th floor on arrival where you’ll be able to enjoy the theatre of the sushi and robata kitchens whilst you eat. When the dinner is over make your way up one more floor to the terraced rooftop bar where you’ll get 180 degree views over Knightsbridge. What a setting for a nightcap.
