Ready to get into September? Course you are. Here are all the fun things you’ll want to be getting up to this month in Brixton.
See a true legend at the 02
When: 19th September
Where: 02 Academy, SW9 9SL
Nile Rodger & CHIC are taking over the 02 for one night. Seeing this multi GRAMMY-winning composer, producer, arranger and guitarist in the flesh is kind of a big deal, so we really recommend nabbing a ticket whilst they are still available.
Immerse yourself in Brixton’s history
When: 10th & 11th September
Where: Brixton Library, SW2 1JQ
StoryTrails is a company that allows you to walk through portals into the past and discover the true histories of local spaces. Brixton is next on their list, and this month you’ll be able to immerse yourself in an augmented virtual reality which will transport you into the past. Pretty cool, huh?
Celebrate women in Jazz
When: 29th September
Where: Hootananny, SW2 1DF
An evening of incredible music by incredible female musicians. Featuring 4 different talents, this is a no-brainer event. It will be a funky fun Thursday night- get groovy and get your tickets.
Join a supper club
When: 15th September
Where: Brixton Windmill, SW2 5DA
This month’s Eat Club is being hosted at Brixton Windmill, where you will be making your very own French-inspired menu under the supervision of a skilled chef. After you’ve done all that hard work, tuck into your 3 course creation with your other supper-clubbers. Social and you’ll be learning new skills too!
Head to the Lambeth Heritage Festival
When: The whole month
Where: Multiple locations
For the whole month, Lambeth’s rich heritage is going to be celebrated through several different events happening borough-wide. Some highlights include a walk of Brixton’s blue plaques on the 4th and the talk on ‘Adventures with Electricity’ with Percy Phillips on the 13th.
See a film for a bargain
When: 3rd September
Where: Picture House Clapham, SW4 0AT
The 3rd is ‘National Cinema Day’ and to celebrate, the Picture House is putting on a full day of films for just £3 per ticket! Get your movie fix in and get the popcorn ready!
