What’s on in Brixton this FEBRUARY

It’s the second month of the year (finally) and it’s going off with a bang in Brixton. Check out some of our favourite things this month.

Brixton Street Wear are opening their first ever physical shop! Brothers Dan and Pete set up the brand and have since raised thousands of pounds for local causes through their ‘give back’ scheme. They’re opening their first ever site in Granville Arcade with style: head down for a serious launch party with special guest DJs and an after party at Lost In Brixton.

Join this conversation with artists Larry Achiampong and David Blandy, hosted by Lisa Anderson (Managing director at the BCA). The discussion will be around their film God_Mode, the “…roots of deeply ingrained racial ideas in society and the pivotal role of science in shaping these perceptions”.

The Hope & Anchor is the perfect spot to watch the England vs Italy game because, after the sport is over they are continuing the evening with their Waitangi Day pub crawl after party! Celebrating all things Kiwi, there’ll be live music into the evening from Tyler Braggins & Friends and then a DJ ’til late. Perfect to celebrate or… forget!

‘PROTEST’ is a brand new play showing at Brixton House Theatre. It’s about three girls standing up for what they believe in “despite the injustices stacked against them… exploring what it takes to make a difference, the power of friendship and the importance of believing in your own voice“.

Ariike Ruban is hosting her very first Fashion Show at HAUS. Nigerian born British designer whose roots are steeped in the colourful tradition of her Yoruba culture, Ruban’s designs and accessories are not only beautiful, but they are also created from sustainable materials. Catch her showing off her latest creations at her debut show.

The second of Club Mexicana’s supper clubs is upon us! This totally vegan, totally delicious, 6 course meal will be a Mexican feast you don’t want to miss out on.


DJ and draw

Life drawing plus a DJ set to accompany! For this session you’ll be drawing a life model in multiple different poses throughout the evening, accompanied by a live DJ to keep the vibes going. All levels of ability are welcome. What a way to see off the month.
