What to do in Brixton this SEPTEMBER

September already! You better believe it. This year is going fast and there’s no sign of it slowing down. Make the most of it whilst you can.

Pick up some vintage bargains

If you’re after some homeware bargains, then head to the Lambeth Town Hall for this flea fair. There will be all things vintage, tonnes of pre-loved furniture and a lot of nic-nacs for any and all home improvements.

Brixton Soup Kitchen is organising a special back-to-school drive which is providing uniforms, school supplies and books to those who need it. It’ll be running from 2-5pm and will have complimentary refreshments and activities too.

See ‘architectures in air’

When: 12th-24th September

Where: Brixton Library, SW2 1JQ

Architectures In Air is an exhibition at Brixton Library which is compromised of audio works and live performances. You’ll be able to see these works during usual library opening hours, but there is also a performance event on the evening of 21st.

Brixton House is showing the world premier of this play by Sutara Gayle (AKA Lorna Gee). Located in Tiruvannamalai, India, ‘The Legends of Them’ is an adventure featuring big musical numbers.

Where: Van Gough House, SW9 0RE

Marking 150 years since Van Gogh lived in Brixton, the living house exhibition is a huge mix of performances, art and even drawing workshops to celebrate the legendary artist.

Brixton Orchard volunteer sessions are running every Thursday this September. They take place at The Brixton Orchard- right on the corner at one of London’s busiest junctions! This rare green space in the heart of Brixton is kept alive by an army of volunteers and if you have some spare time, why not help them out this month.
