Chelsea is getting a very nice new pub

And this one is going to be special, because it’s by the Michelin starred group headed by chef Tom Kerridge.

Tom Kerridge knows a thing or two about pubs. An emphasis on the two because that’s the number of Michelin stars one of his other pubs, The Hand and Flowers, has. In fact, it’s the only pub in the UK to make it to such starry heights. He’s also got another couple of pubs (The Coach and Butcher’s Tap & Grill) making Marlow a Kerridge-run pub haven. But now he’s expanding his pub offering by opening a new one in SW3.

Opening on Tryon Street, Chelsea, is a new rendition of Butcher’s Tap & Grill. The Victorian building is currently the Queen’s Head, but all 3,600 sqft of it is getting a makeover. There’ll be new kitchens, a new hardwood bar, new dining space and bathrooms, gorgeous vintage floors all lit by handmade lighting- it’s going to be cosy, classic and classy. The food will be Kerridge-level good; expect lots of high quality British meats, grilling and simple sides done well. It’s expected to be unfussy and family friendly, which is just the kind of atmosphere that we want in a pub.

Here’s what Kerridge has said about the new opening: “We are delighted to have secured such a prestigious location for our second Butcher’s Tap & Grill. The pub will be a spin-off from the original, in that it is not a carbon copy of the Marlow pub, more emphasis will be placed on drinks and the bar in Chelsea and we will not offer a takeaway butcher’s service, but guests will be able to choose their cuts from the meat fridge.”

The pub is set to open in November this year, so it sounds like we will be spending most of our winter in SW3.
