Hate to say it, but it’s looking like Clapham Common has more of a busy events diary than you do for next year…
We say ‘probably’ because these are all the events that have been put forward to CCMAC in their December meeting and none of them came up against any real opposition, so they are now in the planning phases. For each event there will be fencing erected, but they’ll be taking places in different areas on the Common, giving the group time to recuperate before the next event lands.
We can say for sure is that there’ll be no Festival Republic in 2024.
What’s especially cool is that these events are all a continuation of a 170 year tradition of hosting events on common ground in Lambeth. Since 1785 the parks have been a site for gathering locals and tourists for entertainment. And ok, sure, times have changed- they probably weren’t hosting 2 day vegan festival back then but it’s nice to know that the Common continues to serve its purpose as a place for the enjoyment of those who visit.
