An event to really make you smile; get your kiddies making pasta at this workshop all whilst raising money for a fantastic project.
On the 11th February a workshop for children is taking place at The Chelsea Creperie to raise funds for ‘Smile & Make Pasta’, a project that is putting on pasta-making workshops for children in paediatric oncology wards. Founded by Alessandra Lauria, the organisation goes into hospitals where children are battling cancer and helps give them some relief from their routines of hospital life in the best way- making pasta! The children are given time to be children; they get messy in the kitchen and making pasta shapes with the visiting chefs. Here’s what organiser Vicky has said about the classes: “It’s an amazing project and you cannot imagine the happiness it brings to these kids whose lives aren’t so happy. If the project works, we could bring it to more hospitals in the world.”
It’s such a fantastic idea and the project is raising funds to continue their venture in hospitals all across the UK. They are putting on pasta making workshops for children so you can see what goes on in the hospital and your kid can have fun getting creative in the kitchen! During the 30 minute workshop, children will be given a healthy snack and parents are welcome to make use of the cafe- grab a coffee and settle in whilst you watch your little one become the next Master Chef! Children will then be shown how to make a simple pasta dough (only 2 ingredients!) before shaping their own maccherroni Calabresi. They’ll leave with a goodie bag including a recipe to show them how to cook and serve their creation.
If you’ve got a little one on your hands, then this is a no-brainer of an event! Not only are you getting out of cooking in the evening and coming home with a (tired out) new chef on your hands, but you’ll also be helping fund this project so that the team can take the joy of cooking into children’s wards.
