A new Waterplay facility could replace the blue paddling pool on the Common

It’s time we address the big, blue elephant in the room. The blue, erm, ‘pond’ (?) on Clapham Common could be about to have an upgrade.

The plans, if they go through, will see the current disused paddling pool get a glow up and be turned into a water play facility for children.

The project has been put on priority in the council’s list of things to do in order to upgrade the Common, so fingers crossed the plans get moving soon. If they do, the freshly renovated space should be open from May next year and provide a free space for the kids of Clapham to splash around during the hotter Summer months. It will then be closed from September as we head into Winter… no child wants an introduction into cold water swimming that early on in their life.

The council seem pretty keen to get this one right, saying that there will be considerable investment in the project. In light of that, they want to hear your thoughts!
