BAYO launches in Brixton

Bayo translates to ‘Joy has found us’ in Yoruba, and joy is exactly what this brand new initiative is hoping to bring to the Black community.

BAYO is a brand new digital platform that launches tomorrow, Wednesday 8th February, in Brixton. Run for, and by, the Black community, BAYO is a “space to find collectives, organisations and services from across the UK… to support our mental health and wellbeing”. Unique in its aims, they hope to make finding help for Black young people more accessible and promote good mental health within the community. It’s all about finding joy and providing a space to heal- something that is especially crucial in a time where people of Black heritage are nearly 5 times more likely to be sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

To celebrate the launch of this new initiative, BAYO is hosting a launch day event. Between midday and 4pm head to Brixton House where there will be an afternoon of complimentary workshops, talks and performances. Poetry, art theory, film screenings, mental health discussions and the chance to learn more about BAYO and what it can do for you.
