Is there a duo more classic than beer and curry? Clear your diaries for the 8th November, because Kricket is where you’re gunna want to be.
Though this will be the 4th beer and curry night Indian restaurant, Kricket, has hosted, this will be the very first to take place in the Brixton location. The evening does what it says on the tin- beer and curry. But this is Kricket, so it’s going to be that little bit more elevated.
Specifically, the flavours from the state of Gujarat will be celebrated at this vegetarian feast. You’ll start with some snacky roasted papads before the mains which will be a thali-style plate full of little bits: a cheddar and onion sev roll, dhokla with coconut mint chutney, a thin and crispy methi thepla roti, some creamy boondi raita, toor dal with jaggery and peanuts, a masala bhaat and bhindi tamatar. To finish up there will be some sweet and fudgey brown butter sukhdi. That’s a lot of good food.
So that’s the curry half- but what about the beer? White Rhino Brewing Co is India’s first craft brewery, so it’s only right that they take over the taps for the night. They’ll be paring each course with some of their very best pints; a larger, an IPA and a pale ale to refresh your palate as you munch.
Your £40 ticket will get you the thali, snacks, dessert and beer pairing but- warning- these delicious evenings consistently sell out quick, so if you want to go then grab your ticket before they disappear.
