In Brompton it’s out with ‘Brasserie’ and in with ‘Brasseria’ because there’s a new classic bistro coming in 2024.
La Brasserie, on Brompton Road, was a popular spot. It closed in 2017 after 45 years of operation due to rising overheads that the classic French bistro couldn’t keep up with. But now there is a new breath of life coming to 272 Brompton Road because Brasseria Brompton will be opening up in the same site in early 2024.
Owners- and brothers- Andrea and Alberto Fraquelli are well versed in the Brasseria business; they’ve already got two others in London (La Brasseria Milanese in Marylebone and Brasseria Notting Hill). They’ve now set their sights on Brompton where they are hoping for a hat trick of loved eateries. Where La Brasserie was very much a classic French affaire, it’s expected that Brasseria Brompton will be more of an Italian-New York combo. The menu is going to look a bit like beef carpaccio with truffle and Grana Padano shavings, homemade ravioli, grilled veal chop with roasted potatoes… Decadence and comfort in its finest Italian form.
The space itself ill be lovely throughout the seasons. There’s a main restaurant area plus a bar and cafe space as well as two terraces to enjoy when the weather is kind.
