It’s back! The Lunar New Year celebrations always go down a storm at Daddy Bao, and this year is looking no different.
The Year of the Dragon is almost upon us and Daddy Bao will be pulling out all the stops to mark the occasion. As the name suggests, this Tooting based restaurant does some of the very best bao buns in town. We’ve gone again and again (and again) to stuff ourselves with every flavour of bun they do and we’ve never left disappointed. Or hungry.
And every year, Daddy Bao goes big for Chinese new year. This year they’ll be putting on their one-off feasting menu on the 11th February. The menu will feature ingredients and traditions that bring luck for the new year and you’ll be able to get stuck in any time from noon to 8.30pm on the day. Here’s the menu:
Welcome cocktail & lotus root crisps
Chicken or cabbage siu mai AND Lo pa co with XO sauce
Venison & plum or tofu & plum mini bao AND Noodle-wrapped prawn or king oyster mushroom with ginger-scallion sauce
Roast duck or mapo celeriac, served with rice, stir fried leeks and crispy kale
Whole grilled bream (Add on for £15)
Fried nian gao with clementine and pandan cream
Sesame chocolate truffle
The whole, delicious, affaire will set you back just £60 (or £50 if you go for the vegetarian or pescatarian option). After hearing all of that you’ll not be surprised to know that this one sells out fast. Tickets are on sale now and we’d recommend getting your booking in stat.
