La Doc has landed in Balham

As one door closes another one opens and, though we were sad to say goodbye to Brasserie Vonne, we can’t wait to check out La Doc.

Brasserie Vonne had to close its doors after just over a year of serving their famous moules frites to the people of Balham. Owner, Yvonne, had a sudden change in her family situation and the Belgium restaurant was no longer a viable site for her to keep up and running. Thankfully the people at La Doc have stepped up to take over the site at 205 Balham High Road…

The management team who were running iconic Italian, Bucci, have made their own, new Italian to tempt the pasta lovers of the SW. La Doc will be serving pinsa, risottos, cicchetti, salads and dolci in their fresh location. There’s a good deal to be had there too; Aperitivo hour runs from 12.30pm untill 4.30pm on Fridays to Sundays and you’ll get 2 drinks, 3 starters and 1 pinsa for just £15 (!) or for just a tenner you can get 2 drinks and 3 appetisers.

Here’s what the team from Brasserie Vonne have said about the move: “Gaetano and his team are passionate about authentic Italian culinary experience. From gourmet Italian charcutier on their antipasti menu, to vegan pizza and pasta, along with many traditional meat and seafood Italian dishes, there are many great options to be had. You will also be impressed with their broad selection of wines from different regions in Italy…What’s more? Team La Doc will partner with our sister business Chimney Bells Events and continue the live music and events experience that you all love.

So keep your eyes out for great deals, delicious food and some fantastic events too.
