Little but mighty; The Little Taperia

Tapas done really, really well. Drinks equally great. And an atmosphere and team like no other. Yep, we like it here.

The Little Taperia is a beautiful tapas restaurant on Tooting High Street. It really hits all the marks; the food and drinks are incredible, as are the team and the amazing atmosphere. They all contribute to make the place as magical as it is. So of course, we were extremely excited to head over to try it out.

We were greeted with a huge jug of sparkling grapefruit sangria which was, if anything, far too easy drinking. We handed over the reigns to manager Alberto, who made all the decisions with our order. Brave? Not at all. We’d happily have had anything from the whole menu, but he did a great job. If you are also feeling like throwing caution to the wind we’d recommend you give this a go!

To start us off we had the garlic and chilli prawns- always an easy winner in our books, the extremely flavoursome Morcilla scotch eggs and then pan fried scallops. This last dish came with jamon, garlic butter, parsnip purée. Perhaps one of our favourite moments of the evening and we appreciated the generous portion.

We then had the baked aubergine which was packed with flavours of the Med; tomato sauce, manchego, baby chorizo and red wine. You could have fooled us we’d tripped and ended up in Spain. But the real star of the show was the piquillo peppers. Stuffed with pulled beef and served with a citrusy mash, well, we would happily live of that for the rest of our lives. Bring the sangria too.

They also have a fab cocktail menu, so you can really make a night of it. And speaking of making a night of it- do make sure to let them know if it’s a birthday or special occasion. They don’t hold back on the tambourine and will certainly sing their lungs out- which is such a treat (or trick depending on who is being sung to!).

P.S: They have just opened a sister restaurant in Tooting Bec called Fourteen. Give her a try if you’re into all things small plates and natural wines.
