Bature Brewery and Brixton Brewery: A Dream Collaboration Brings Tropical Sunshine to London

Get ready to taste the sunshine, London! Bature Brewery, Lagos’ pioneer in craft beer, has teamed up with the iconic Brixton Brewery to launch a vibrant new pale ale, ‘Mangoes to Lagos’.

This international collaboration is a first for Bature and promises to deliver the succulent, sweet flavours of Nigeria’s finest fruit straight to the heart of South London.

Starting Tuesday, 18th June, you can enjoy this tropical treat. ‘Mangoes to Lagos’ combines the luscious, juicy mangoes from Lagos’ farms and markets. It blends Bature Brewery’s ‘Mango Disco Juice’ with Brixton Brewery’s ‘Mangoes to Brixton’. The result is a delightful fusion of flavours and cultures in every sip.

This cross-continental collaboration perfectly melds Bature’s unique Naija style with Brixton’s technical brewing expertise. Moreover, the creative teams have merged Brixton’s Limited Edition labels with Bature’s colourful designs, creating a can that’s as appealing to the eyes as the beer is to the taste buds.

The pale ale is a taste of pure sunshine. With its hazy, revitalising appearance and tropical flavour profile, it’s dry-hopped to enhance the taste. A blend of golden malts, a dash of sorghum, and a whole lot of succulent mango makes it a drink you’ll want to come back to all summer long.

Bature Brewery, Nigeria’s first craft brewery, has been a trailblazer in the West African craft beer scene since its launch in Abuja in 2017. Known for its innovative range of beers, Bature has garnered international acclaim. Now, it is expanding its brewery and taproom in Lagos. This collaboration with Brixton Brewery marks their first foray into international partnerships, spreading West Africa’s rich beer heritage far and wide.

Bayo Ijasan from Bature Brewery expressed his excitement: “This truly is the collaboration of dreams! Bringing together Lagos and Brixton’s finest craft breweries, we’ve created a fruit bowl of a beer that transports drinkers straight to Nigeria’s orchards. Our first international collaboration is packed with all the local flavours, spices, and fruits we’ve been experimenting with. Our connection with Brixton Brewery goes way back. This launch shows our shared cultural and artistic bonds. We hope ‘Mangoes to Lagos’ gets people excited about our beers and the West African scene.”

Francesco Mayell, Co-Head Brewer at Brixton Brewery, added: “Collaborations like these are fantastic. We combined our knowledge to create a beautiful, balanced, and drinkable beer. It’s been an insightful experience working with our colleagues from another continent, sharing hard-earned brewing insights.”

‘Mangoes to Lagos’ (4.5% ABV) will be available in cans and on draft at select bottle shops and bars across London. It will also feature at upcoming summer festivals. You can also order it from Brixton Brewery’s online store.
