It’s cosy and festive, and *spoiler* we love it.
You might have spotted the gorgeous Christmas display that took over the facade of the Rose & Crown over the festive period. Now they have upped the al-fresco game and launched their outdoor terrace. Think apres ski, but without the slopes and the preppy groups of post uni boy… oh wait, never mind.
We headed over to the Polygon to check out the new outdoor set up, and were greeted with the full works. We are talking sheepskins on chairs, heaters and two giant parasols to keep you protected from that blustery British weather. They’re also planning on changing the festive outdoor decor to a rosey affair for the next few months. Perfect for a romantic Valentines when that creeps up. Speaking of romance, The Rose & Crown is a great spot if you are looking to impress- it’s cosy and cute, plus they have a pretty good track record of turning first dates turning into marriage if things are getting serious…
And it’s not just the setting that’s been spruced up, the menu has just had a seasonal change too. Bar snacks have a slight Asian influence to them, like the chicken and kimchi spring rolls which are perfect with a pint. If you are looking for something a little more substantial we can highly recommend the pork and black pudding scotch egg, which comes with a zingy green apple ketchup. The burger is great, mainly because it comes with a ‘frickle’ on top… yep, a deep fried pickle. Delicious.
Their drinks are always going to be wonderful too, but seriously, that espresso martini is one of the best we’ve had in a very long time. Frothy, not too sweet and nice and strong. Don’t miss it.
The Terrace is proving popular already and though they are taking walk-ins, we’d recommend booking your table before heading down.
