Though Diwali usually lasts for 5 days, Tooting is going all out for a single day for their celebration: “Tooting Lights Up”.
On the 23rd October, celebrate Diwali at the Tooting Lights Up festival right in the heart of Tooting. Organised by the Wandsworth Council, this free event will be a full day of music, live performances and street food- there will also be the opportunity to get a temporary henna tattoo!
Recognised by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains globally, Diwali is an annual event that usually last five days long. It celebrates the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. If you are looking to observe Diwali this year then head to Totterdown Street in Tooting between midday and 6pm for a proper party.
