Want to go vegan for Halloween this year?

Blood and guts aren’t on the menu at Cafe Van Gough… but all things spooky are for one night only this October 31st.

There’s something spooky going on at Cafe Van Gogh this Halloween, and you’re invited. For one night they are putting on a Halloween set menu special which you’ll be able to catch on the 31st- the perfect excuse to ‘not be in’ when you want to escape the trick or treaters…

The evening will take place at their charming cafe on 88 Brixton Road where they’ll be encouraging diners to come dressed for the festivities. But it’s a little different at Van Gogh- Draculas will be abstaining from blood and zombies won’t be gorging on guts, because this is a completely plant based restaurant. Their Halloween set menu looks enticing and, if it’s like any of our previous trips to this Brixton gem, the food will be so delicious you won’t miss the animal products. Here’s what you’ll be eating:

Starter, Witches Fingers. Beer battered pickles and shiitake mushrooms with blood red chilli dipping sauce.

Main, Bloody Burger. Beetroot and chickpea patty, onion ring, beetroot mayo and pickles with chips and slaw.

Dessert, Dark Magic. Dark chocolate torte with raspberry coulis and crème fraîche.

Sounds scarily good. But the price certainly ain’t scary; the whole thing is just £35pp and they’ll be running a 2-4-1 deal on their ‘bloody’ margaritas, but spaces are flying as fast as a broomstick-riding witch. Better get booking.
