What to do in Brixton this DECEMBER

Here we go, Brixton! It’s the last few days of 2023 so how will you be spending it? If you’re looking for some ideas, we’ve got a few…

Throw it back

Where: The Brickstone, SW9 6AQ

Head to The Brickstone for the launch of this throwback party event run by DJ Kamba, a Brixton local. From 9pm until 2am dance to some of the very best old school tunes at the first of- hopefully many- these events.


Swap out your old things for new

When: 2nd December

Where: Trinity Congregational Church, SW2 1NF

Trinity Congregational Chapel is hosting a festive charity clothes/item swap. The aim of the event is to raise money for local charities who are helping to support vulnerable children over Christmas. The idea is that you can bring up to 5 items (new or very good condition) to donate or swap with others at the event- great for finding some new bits for you or even gifts! There’ll be a raffle, food and drink and a lot of festive cheer.


Get your Christmas shopping sorted

Where: Downstairs at The Department Store, SW9 8FR

The Black Culture Market is back! Running from 11am-5pm both days this is the perfect opportunity to get ahead with your Christmas shopping. Browse from a selection of black-owned small businesses at this special, festive edition.

If wrapping up gifts fills you with dread, then head to Market Row between 12pm and 4pm on Sundays in December where the elves at Brixton Bid will do it for you! All you need to do is make sure that the gifts are from one of the local BID businesses and that’s Christmas wrapped up!


Liven up your Wednesday lunchtimes

Where: Various locations across Brixton

Every Wednesday London All Stars are taking to the streets of Brixton to bring a bit of the Caribbean sunshine to your December with the sound of their steel drumming. These free concerts will take place all over Brixton between noon and 3pm.

Where: Multiple locations

The famous Brixton Chamber Orchestra’s Christmas Estates Tour is back! They’ll be taking the band to 13 estates over the South West and playing 13 free concerts. As ever, you can expect all genres of music- grime, rap, classical, pop and- of course- a load of Christmas tunes too. The finale takes place on the 21st at Lambeth Town Hall, reserve your free ticket to this one whilst you can!

The Winter Weekend at Slaughterhaus Print Studio is the perfect place to stock up on hand-made cards, prints and gifts this Christmas. And if you’re inspired by their crafts then you’ll also be able to hear all about their courses so you can join in too. Plus, there’ll be mulled wine and mince pies!


Visit Santa

Where: Brixton Windmill

Between midday and 3pm the Windmill is getting mega Christmassy. There’ll be a Santa’s grotto, mulled wine, local crafts, workshops and loads more festive fun.

Kicking off at 10pm and going all the way through to the wee hours, this is the party to get in the spirit of things. Soca, Dancehall, Afrobeats, Hip Hop, RnB… whatever your genre there’ll be something that’ll get you on the dance floor in no time.
