A few book launches, a couple of parties and some really good food… there’s a lot to get involved with in Brixton this October.

Wayne Campbell debut photography book is launching this Friday. ‘A Celebration of Demonstration’ shows the action taken on the streets of London after the murder of George Floyd in 2020. On the night there will be a mini exhibition of Wayne’s photography, plus you’ll be able to buy one of the limited edition copies of his book.
Celebrate Oktoberfest

Yep, it’s rolled around again and Oktoberfest-fever is hitting the capital hard this year. October Electric Brixton are hosting a series of Oktoberfest celebrations where they’ll be putting on some properly fun day parties where people can come and live their German Oktoberfest dream.

Lambeth Open is back for its 14th year! For a few days in October local creatives open the doors to their workspaces for you to come and snoop around to see where the magic happens. Entry is free and there are loads of spaces for you to check out.

This night of musical tales features two enchanting performers. Rosie Alena and Blossom Calderone will take to the stage for a soft, dulcet evening. What better way to spend a Monday?
Check out this new kitchen residency

Where: Bottle + Rye, SW9 8LD
‘Rice Paddy’ is popping up in Bottle + Rye and, as the name suggests, is a celebration of South East Asian food. The menu will be especially influenced by Northern Thailand so you can expect lots of flame cooking. There will be grilled meats (bbq’d chicken, aromatic sausages) and lots of spicy, sour dips and zingy salads.

After the sold-out main Disco Festival in April, Disco fest are coming back for one night of revelry. They’re taking over Electric Brixton and you can expect big names on the line up: Todd Terje, Kirollus, Aroop Roy and Guinny. It’s going to get funky.

If the first book launch wasn’t enough, we are coming at you with another. Speak Out! is a collection of writing from the Brixton Black Women’s Group. Established in 1973, this group was formed to create a space where women of African and Asian heritage could meet safely to discuss the issues they faced collectively. Speak Out! will be released at this launch in Brixton Library.
Party hard at this farewell

Where: Beetle Juice, SW9 8PS
The very sad news is that Beetle Juice is closing in Brixton Village. This fun cocktail bar has bought some great drinks, events and hangovers to the people of Brixton but they’ll be closing their doors on the 28th. To celebrate their time here, they’re throwing a big Halloween-y party; dress up and get ready to dance.
