On the anniversary of the disappearance of Sarah Everard, Walk For Them are walking from Clapham North tube to the bandstand on Clapham Common.
The walk is a show of solidarity, a peaceful protest of the work there is still to do and a commemoration of victims of gendered violence. The 3rd is an especially poignant date in the calendars of those living in and around Clapham as it marks a year since Sarah Everard was abducted, raped and murdered by a serving police officer. The walk has been set up by Urban Angels, an organisation who want to make society safer for women and non-binary people. Here’s what they said about the event:
We hope “Walk for Them” will highlight the need for making a positive cultural change, to target the root causes for the many tragic incidents that still occur on the streets.

The walk will start at 7pm and finish at the bandstand at 7.30pm where there will be opportunity for anyone to speak, sing or read. (If you’d like to, get in touch with the organisers here: urbanangelslambeth@gmail.com). The event will finish with a minute of silence.
If you can’t make this one check out Walk Her Home, a march happening on Friday.
