Congratulations to the four locals awarded MBEs, we are extremely proud to have you within our Brixton community!
The New Year honours list is released on the 1st January every year, and “recognises people who have given exceptional service to the UK abroad and internationally”. It includes those individuals earning new MBEs, OBEs and CBEs as awarded to them by the most senior members of the royal family.
This year, four Brixton locals have been recognised and celebrated by the list. Here they are:
Ken Floyde MBE; founder of Brixton BMX, a club for enthusiasts and supporters of BMX biking.
Elizabeth Maytom MBE; project lead Norwood and Brixton food bank. Elizabeth is critical in the work this bank does in distributing over 60 packages a day to those who need it most.
Zoey Dixon MBE; Lambeth librarian working at CILIP- the UK’s library and information association.
Martin Beard MBE; company secretary and health and safety trustee for Centre 70, a charity that gives legal advice, mental support and training to adults in need of it.
