Everyone needs The Thoughtful Fruiter just round the corner. A community hub that is full to the brim with all you could possibly need.
Starting from humble beginnings, The Thoughtful Fruiter started life as a transport and delivery service selling Christmas trees, community fruit and vegetable boxes during lockdown. Now they’ve grown into a gorgeous shop on Balham’s Weir Road. Dean and his family have created a wonderful space for locals to pick up fresh produce, shrubs and plants and many pantry items too.
Dean really has thought of everything. From the produce to the way the shop has been fitted, there has been careful consideration in each decision. The shelves have been created by local craftsmen, the signage is all hand drawn and created by a local artist and everything he uses can be recycled. There’s even a great selection of hot drinks so you can grab a coffee to keep you warm whilst you browse. As well as the fresh fruit and vegetables there’s chilled goods, a bakery, a huge pantry wall, plants, shrubs and planters. Everything is seasonal so you can expect to find something a little different every time you pop in, the addition you didn’t know you needed on top of your weekly essentials. Fancy trying a new fruit that’s in season? Dean will source it for you.
Any left over fresh produce that’s on the turn and no longer in restaurant quality is taken to the allotment down the road to be used as compost… apart from the peppers. The peppers that are slightly overripe get put into locally made spicy pepper sauces, a real effort to make sure absolutely nothing goes to waste.

P.S: Dean will be back with his Christmas tree’s from the 25th November and he offers free delivery so if you’ve done too much shopping in store and have your hands full, you can choose your tree and they will deliver it to you!
