Barbie-mania is here and it’s looking like it’s here to stay. The Design Museum have announced a whopping all-things-pink- exhibition.
Not fed up with the Barbie thing yet? No, us neither. And luckily it’s a train that doesn’t look to be slowing any time soon, because The Design Museum has announced that they are putting on a huge pink-hued exhibition next year that will celebrate the plastic doll that has taken the world by storm. Next year also marks the 65th year of Barbie, so it’s the perfect time to do a deep dive into the history of the company.
There’ll be lots to see when the exhibition opens in July ’24. The Barbie archives in California is shipping over vintage, rare dolls and there’ll be some on special lone from collectors too. And there’s more than just her. She comes with clothes, cars, houses and much more which will all be available for the public to see. Of course, this is the Design Museum, so there will be a particular angle on the design of Barbie and the transformation of her over the decades. Tickets aren’t yet on sale- watch this space because they’ll fly fast.
