Deli by day, wine bar by night. It’s what we all want and, more importantly, need at this time of year. Snuggle into Lulu’s.
Llewelyn’s is in prime location on Railton Road in that sweet little nook of shops and restaurants by Herne Hill station. It is also in prime location in our hearts. We are suckers for its really, really good and seasonal food and the gorgeous setting it is served in. Because of that, we are besides ourselves with excitement at the news that they will be opening a sister deli and wine bar next door!
Lulu’s will be deli by day- selling jars of pickles, olive oil and other store cupboard goods as well as fresh produce and bakery items. They’ll also keep you fed over lunchtime with an array of sandwiches, seasonal salads and cakes and pastries too.
Into the evening, Lulu’s will turn into that trendy wine bar. You’ve been seeing them popping up all over town, and now it’s Herne Hill’s turn. There will be a delicious menu of small plates featuring devilled eggs, beef tartar and mushrooms on toast and a tasty sounding mussel and bacon dish too. Of course, there will be cocktails and wine galore. It will be cosy, candlelit and likely to be your new favourite hangout. Don’t know about you, but we are planning on going for a lunchtime sandwich and staying until we’ve tried at least a couple of their glasses of vino when the evening kicks in.
Lulu’s officially opens on the 14th December, though it is running a soft launch this week. Go, go, go!
