Jack McLean is taking on the London Marathon this year in aid of Crohn’s and Colitis UK. Help him reach his fundraising goal!
Running a marathon is a tough thing to undertake. Yes, there’s the 26.2 miles to schlep around London on the day in April- but it’s the bits before that that really make this an endurance sport. The hours and hours of training, the obsessing over what trainers to wear, the early Saturday nights before the Sunday long runs and then there is the fundraising too.
Many run the London Marathon for a charity. The event raises both awareness and funds for thousands of organisations every year and this year Tooting Bec local resident Jack McLean is doing just that. He is running his first marathon in aid of Crohns & Colitis UK. Here’s what he’s said about his venture:
“In knowing friends and family affected by either Crohn’s or Colitis, when offered the opportunity to fundraise for them, I couldn’t turn it down. Before learning of my friends experiences, I had not heard of Crohn’s and Colitis, and it seems it is often met with embarrassment and stigma, causing many to suffer in silence, putting off getting health checks or enduring the health complications associated. I hope to change this, by helping Crohn’s and Colitis UK challenge stigma, raise awareness, and fund them help those affected get the correct support they need.“
And he’s not just stopping at the marathon in his bid to draw some pennies from your pocket. He is also hosting a raffle which features loads of Tooting and South West London-based companies. Check out this whopping list of prizes:
