What to do in Clapham this Valentine’s Day

What are you up to on the 14th February this year? If you’re looking for a way to woo, then here are some of our favourite ideas…

Willows, SW4 0JG

Start your evening at Willows with a cheese, charcuterie and antipasti sharing board and a glass of fizzy wine before working your way through the mains of sirloin steak, roast potatoes, butterbean stew, carrots and seasonal greens. You’ll probably be quite full after that, but not full enough to say no to a chocolate truffle or two. This set menu will only set you back £45pp, so you might even have enough left over for an extra cocktail or two…

Red Vine, SW4 7AA

The interior at Red Vine really lends itself to romance and, for just £35pp, you’ll get a glass of sparkling Welsh wine, a tableful of sharing starters (zucchini fries, charcuterie, croquettes) a main of your choice and a gorgeously chocolatey dessert to finish off.

The Rose & Crown, SW4 0JG

What could be more romantic than sharing a cheesy, potatoey, bacon, flakey Tartiflette with your Valentine? The Rose and Crown have got this special on the menu for a limited time only and it’s designed to be split between two so it’s the perfect meal for the 14th. If you’ve got space for a sweet treat afterwards then why not share a dessert too? The sticky toffee pudding has our heart…

The Two Brewers, SW4 7UJ

Rebel against any usual ideas about Valentine’s Day at The Two Brewers. They are hosting a ‘Valentine-who’ event on the 1st February and it’s all about embracing the “spirit of NOT celebrating love“. If the 14th isn’t for you, then this event is.

The Falcon, SW4 7SQ

Sometimes simple is best, and The Falcon are cutting through the Valentine’s Day chaos with their steak and wine night. Ever pair that chooses steak will get a complimentary bottle of Interpunkt X Journey’s End Shiraz. Simple, effective.

Minnow, SW4 0HY

We wrote all about Minnow’s menu for the 14th here. Check out our review and do what we did: get obsessed and get your booking in.

The Pig’s Head, SW4 0DR

The Pig’s Head are keeping us waiting for their official menu for the 14th, but good things come to those who wait and you know it’ll be good here. We have heard rumours that there’s going to be a very special beef wellington on for the evening, and that they’re almost fully booked. Move fast if you want in.

Venn Street Records, SW4 0BD

This is a good event if you’re not feeling super loved-up on the 14th… but you don’t want to sit at home with a bucket of ice cream. From 8.30-11pm Venn Street Records have got Phonic Delights Duo playing a mixtape of ‘love songs and throwback breakup bangers’. Dance it off.

Bistro Union, SW4 9NG

Bistro Union do Valentine’s Day really nicely, because the main course of their set menu is a big sharing plate. You and your plus one will choose between either the aged sirloin or the Cornish turbot to eat together. The other courses are equally charming; snacks, oysters, light starters of either burrata or trout tartar and delicate puds of chocolate delice or raspberry mille-feuille. Yum.

No. 32 The Old Town, SW4 0JE

They’ve got the ‘tastiest two course menu’ for just £25 at No. 32. You can have a Bavette steak, fries and peppercorn sauce followed by a chocolate ganache, all for under £30.
