Your Local Café is as warm and friendly as the name suggests. Great coffee and food will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy. We know we did.
Your Local Café opened on Brixton Hill in November last year having spotted a gap in the market. They felt there was a void for a space where the community could come together whilst enjoying exceptional coffee and delicious food. Sure, they wanted to serve yummy things, but they wanted their output to be more than just lattes and muffins. They wanted to inject happiness and vibrancy into the community too, and having paid a visit, that energy really comes through from the space.
They really are a friendly bunch; families, dogs, WFH-ers, solo diners, grab-and-go groups… whoever you are you’ll be welcome here. Your Local Café recognise the diversity of the population around them so have done the work in making it an accessible place for all. There’s free wifi and plenty of plug sockets for those bringing a laptop and there’s a kids specific menu, toys and books for those visiting with kids.
Coffee is clearly at the heart of the place- as it should be! They get the basics right and have spent a long time perfecting their signature lattes, cappuccinos and flat whites to get them up to London standards. To get there they tried (literally) hundreds of different beans and suppliers and the proof was in the pudding- our cappuccino was a delight. The food they are serving is the comforting goodness you want from a local cafe. There’s savoury croissants, sandwiches, bagels, wraps, soups, porridge, salads, toast, cakes and sweet treats… A bit of everything for everyone! We tried out a good portion of the menu (the salmon Philly bagel, a ham and cheese toasty, the salami, cheese and rocket croissant and a slice of delicious tiramisu cake) and it was all completely delicious without being fussy.
Your Local Café really is just what it says on the tin. Accommodating, full of the warmest, hardworking staff and an atmosphere that will make you want to hunker down and stay hunkered down.
P.S: There’s a deal on right now! If you visit between now and the 5th of November you can get a coffee and sweet treat for just £5.
