Celebrate the Year of the Tiger with some delicious Chinese food

Where have all the good Chinese takeaways gone? Seriously, when did you last have a reaaaally good prawn toast… Hard to remember, right? Thankfully ZingZing has opened up in Clapham promising to put an end to average noodles and soggy crackers. But we went down to try out some of their menu, you know, just to make sure.

To be completely honest, Chinese sort of fell off the radar for us. We can take it or leave it. But that all changed approx. 0.5secs after our first bite of ZingZing. We ordered a few different things from their relatively simple menu. The salt and pepper oyster mushrooms would have any squid traditionalist questioning their need for seafood and the firecracker chicken really was as spicy and moorish as you want it to be. They’ve got all the classics you could want, chow mein, crispy duck pancakes, beef in black bean sauce. But what we especially loved was the extensive vegan/vegetarian menu. Miso aubergine, sweet and sour tofu and Mongolian mushrooms are just the tip of the veg friendly ice-burg.

Its hit the sweet spot, great comfort food without being too greasy. Speaking of comfort food, we’ve never experienced anything as comforting as a peanut butter, chocolate smore spring roll. Do yourself a favour and don’t miss this little guy. Might not be traditional, but when it’s that tasty who cares? Not us.
